Having your animal locked in your car can potentially be life threatening to them especially in the summer months. Because of the harmful nature of having a dog locked in the car it is always best to try to prevent it from happening altogether. If you know you are going to be going somewhere with your pet it is best to prepare for the trip however long or short it may be. A first good tip is to start your car and turn on the air conditioning to cool the car down before letting your pet get inside. Now that the car is on with the keys in the ignition it is easy for them to be locked inside. Crack a window just enough to allow your arm to fit through in the event it locks. Never leave your dog unattended in your car, most of the calls that we receive with this situation is because they left the dog alone and it jumped up and accidentally hit the lock button on the door.
