Signs Your Key Fob Is Dying & How to Extend Its Life

If you’ve ever pressed the unlock button on your key fob and nothing happened, you know the frustration. Modern key fobs and smart keys are essential for convenience and security, but they don’t last forever. Knowing the signs of a dying key fob and how to extend its life can save you time, stress, and even prevent a lockout.

1. Weak Signal or Shorter Range

One of the first signs your key fob is starting to fail is a weak or inconsistent signal. Maybe you used to unlock your car from 50 feet away, but now you need to be right next to the door. This usually indicates that the battery is running low or the internal transmitter is weakening.

2. Intermittent Button Response
